CCTV installation

ORION FACILITIES MANAGEMENT · LONDON

Orion discusses CCTV installation around your premises, the areas you want to observe and how the system will be used. A clear specification helps you understand the proposed coverage, equipment and installation work before proceeding.

Start with the coverage you need

The useful starting point is the purpose of the system. An entrance, delivery area and internal corridor can need different camera positions and viewing arrangements. We discuss the layout, lighting and practical installation routes so the proposal can explain the intended coverage and limitations instead of relying on camera numbers alone.

What the agreed service can include

  • Discussing the areas and activity you want the system to cover
  • Considering camera positions, lighting and installation access
  • Defining the proposed equipment and recording arrangements
  • Agreeing cable routes, power and network responsibilities
  • Discussing handover, basic use and any separately agreed support

Planning the service

Tell us whether the site has an existing system, the number of areas involved and who owns or manages the premises. Identify any restrictions on drilling, cabling or working hours. Equipment compatibility, network access, user permissions and storage requirements should be confirmed before the installation scope is agreed.

Responsibilities and ongoing communication

A CCTV proposal should make clear what is included and what remains the client’s responsibility. Decide who may view recordings, how access is controlled and who will manage the system after handover. Privacy, notices and any permissions relevant to your premises need consideration before cameras are positioned. Remote viewing and ongoing maintenance are included only where agreed.

Your questions answered

Can you discuss an existing CCTV system?

Yes. Provide a non-sensitive summary of its age, equipment and the issue or change you need. Compatibility and the feasibility of alterations need to be assessed before a quotation is confirmed.

Will every area be visible?

Coverage depends on the layout, camera positions, lighting and equipment. The proposal should identify the intended views and any known limitations rather than promise complete visibility.

Does installation include ongoing monitoring?

Installation and active monitoring are separate requirements. Tell us if you need to discuss monitoring, maintenance or remote access so the scope can be made explicit.
